Dentist Milton Keynes How Often Do You Brush Your Teeth?
Next time you lean in for a kiss, ask yourself, has this person brushed their teeth lately, if not, their dental health could be compromised.
26% of British adults only brush their teeth once a day, according to findings of a new nationwide poll
The Appledore team think this is shocking!!! This is one in four people!
The data has been collected by the Oral Health Foundation and sheds concerns about the number of people willing to skip twice-daily brushing.
Insights from the research show that 25% do not brush their teeth in the evening before they go to bed which is the time that you SHOULD brush your teeth to remove build up of food eaten throughout the day.
According to the research, men brush less than women and under 35’s brush less often than over 35’s.
The research also showed that 66% of UK adults have visible plaque, 31% have signs of tooth decay, and 74% have already had teeth extracted. At a time when NHS dentistry is behind with check ups (due to Covid) and it’s hard to get seen by a dentist this is a disaster waiting to happen.
Twice a day you should brush your teeth because it removes plaque and left over food. If you don’t remove plaque it can cause tooth decay and gum disease (by the way, gum disease has been linked with heart disease, it is so important to have a healthy mouth).
Dr Teresa from our private dental clinic in Milton Keynes says “if you only brush once a day, your chances of tooth decay rise, so you should always make time to brush your teeth morning and night to ensure good dental health”.
